Calf Implants
The objective of the procedure is to obtain a curvature and volume in the zone of the calf that is resembled to the obtained with the physical exercise (bicycle, steps).
This surgery is the indicated one for those patients who have had some type of congenital malformation in the leg, (neurological disease, poliomyelitis and diseases) or injuries (traumatisms). Also in those in which in spite of the exercise they do not obtain muscular tone in this zone.
The procedure consists of placing one or two silicone implants between the gastrocnemius muscle and the skin. The incision is made in the later face of the knee. A pocket over the muscle is where the implant is located; the scars of the surgery are imperceptible.
The diameter of implants depends on the structure of the patient. The surgery is made with general anesthesia; the duration of the surgery is of one-hour average. The patient arrives in the morning and she released in afternoon and on the same day patient is already walking.
Drainages are not left and they are prescribed antibiotic during 10 days, at the end of these, the patient must use shoes of low heel during a month, after the month of the operation the patient can do exercises of medium intensity.
